Whether you致e recently purchased your first digital SLR—or are soon planning to take the plunge—this introductory class will demystify today痴 confusing technical jargon and get you up and running in the exciting world of digital photography! In this one short class you値l be able to take advantage of the remarkable flexibility and creativity that digital photography offers.

We provide a basic, yet comprehensive, overview of digital photography, including equipment selection, useful camera settings, computer hardware and software choices, shooting in RAW and JPEG, obtaining great exposures using histograms, and transferring and storing your images. For one day we値l practice in the field, creating images at a nearby zoo or game park (Atlanta—Georgia Aquarium, San Diego—San Diego Zoo, Seattle— Northwest Trek), and then spend the next four days in the classroom. We値l follow the entire digital workflow from capturing an image, through printing it on paper容xploring the usefulness and functions of Photoshop® tools and other photo-editing software important to nature photographers and the basics of printing on Epson and other inkjet printers.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The class is an introduction to digital photography for beginners. While helpful, no prior experience with digital photography is needed.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS
By the end of this class, you値l have a good idea of the equipment and software needed for the type of photography you want to do—including what gear you値l need immediately, and which purchases can be put off until later. You値l acquire the confidence to make good exposures, even in tricky light conditions, and correct some you may have botched in the past. Getting images from the camera to your computer and ultimately stored in your archives will be routine. Cleaning up, editing and tweaking your images to bring them to their full potential will be a part of your overall personal digital workflow. Photoshop will seem less daunting and you値l be up and running with the basics of printing at home on an inkjet printer. Not bad for one week's work!
