As autumn descends on the northwest corner of Wyoming, a pensive mood lingers in the air. The large mammals sport thick, new winter coats acquired from a summer of feasting, and the leaves of aspen and cottonwood trees blaze in back-lit glory. During September, wildlife reclaims many of the areas overwhelmed by the summer's tourists. The bird migration is in full swing and the elk are ruttingtheir bugling resounding from the hillsides. Fall is a wonderful time to photograph in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The air is cool but the sun still yields its warmth.
In Grand Teton National Park, the majestic Snake River captures our attention as it winds beneath the snow-dusted peaks of the Tetons. Days 23 At sunrise we photograph the magnificent landscapes and wildlife along the Snake River. We photograph sunset over the rugged Tetons. Moose, eagles, waterfowl and magnificent scenery offer many photo opportunities. (BLD) Days 45 Stopping often for photography, we drive to Yellowstone National Park on Day 4. We shoot at classic park locations, including the geyser basins, unearthly landscapes of colorful mist-shrouded hot pools and steaming fumaroles of the Old Faithful area, the Norris Geyser Basin, the mineral terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs and the majestic waterfalls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
