The Hill family - Mike, Kathy, Michael and Richard have traveled together on photographic trips around the world for nearly 20 years. Together they have visited Kenya, Tanzania, The Galapagos Islands, The Seychelles, The Maldives and most recently Svalbard. Two family members Mike and Michael are our Spring 2002 co-Featured Clients and we are pleased to present the images they created on our 2001 Svalbard photo cruise.
Mike has authored three books and is currently working on two more. He has won 14 awards in the prestigious British Gas "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" competition. Mike changed careers just over a year ago to take up full-time nature photography and he is represented by several major stock photography agencies including Getty Images, Age Fotostock, Pictor, Oxford Scientific Films and Alamy. His work has been widely published for advertising and editorial uses. He spends much time producing conceptual wildlife images on the computer for possible advertising use. Mike has traveled with Joseph Van Os Photo Safaris to a number of destinations including Antarctica, Indonesia, Honduras, Yellowstone National Park, big cat and raptor shoots in the US and, of course, Svalbard.
Mike's interest in photography was passed on to Michael and Richard who have both had a number of successes in The British Gas "Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year" competition. Michael actually won the competition in 1993. Since then only Michael has continued as an active photographer. He is completing his masters in interactive multimedia at London University while Richard is studying history at The University West of England in Bristol. Kathy and Richard are now resigned to lugging around extra camera gear for Mike and Michael on family photographic trips!
