“Previsualization
is an integral part of my photographic process,” explains our newest Featured
Client, Anthony E. Cook. As a painter and naturalist, Anthony approaches his
photography with a strong understanding of his subject matter and a clear idea
of the compositions he hopes to capture on film. The photographs shown below,
which he took while traveling with us in Antarctica, are evidence that this
approach works quite well for him!

Anthony’s work
has been featured in numerous publications including Outdoor Photographer, US Airways Attache and Sierra. His photographs have appeared in galleries and
museums throughout the United States and Canada, including the touring
exhibition “Fall Colors Across North America” which will be on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City from September 29, 2004—March 1, 2005.

Cook is the
photographer and author of The Cook Forest: An Island in Time—which
includes an introduction by Robert Bateman—and contributing author to
Eastern Old-Growth Forests. For four autumn seasons he traveled throughout
North America to capture the images that resulted in his most recently
published book—also titled Fall Colors Across North America—a beautiful
collection of images with an essay by Ann Zwinger and foreword by Art Wolfe.

A native of Pennsylvania, Cook is a dedicated conservationist who serves on the boards of the Roger
Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History, the National Aviary, and the
Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. In addition to traveling with us to
Antarctica and South Georgia, Anthony has traveled with us twice to the Gulf of St. Lawrence to
photograph hooded and harp seals and is scheduled to join us in 2005 on our
Polar Bears & Wildlife of Spitsbergen photo cruise.
